AAGateWay is a small and simple utility which will allow you to use a TV Stick or old Android Phone, as a Wifi receiver for your Android Auto compatible car. The app basically will bring wireless connection to existing Android Auto units, with the help of an auxiliary unit.
Version 1.0 Beta RC3 on 01.13.2019
- Tweaks to try prevent app being killed by OS due to mainly background activity
- Fixed crash on "OK Google"
- Fixed Toggle options on Slave
- Added option for master IP (to be used over a WiFi router rather then Tethering)
Version 1.0 Alpha on 07.16.2018
Please read app thread before purchasing and for how-to guide.

Could not make it work. Slave (Galaxy A3 - Either Alpha or Beta versions), Master (Note 10). Car multimedia pop up says Enable wireless projection, though it's already enabled. Even tried running on the Android Auto emulator at first, hoping it could prevent me to stay in my car for some time with endless attempts, but no success.

Master Samsung S8 not rooted, famous Samsung S3 root original rom 4.3, Auto kia pro ceed gt 2018. It works quite nice, there is a problem with the connection from time to time and you have to uninstall the android car on the master and Aagateway on the master has AA 4.7 tested. After your information with the server error on AA 4.7 and return to AA 4.6 we will see how it will work. The great idea and convenience of using AA this way is great. Good luck in continuing this project

The spirit of the app is good, but functionality and user experience is poor. Difficult to setup, and very flaky. Had to use Alpha version on slave phone to get it to work. If slave runs out of battery (ie not charging in the car overnight) you need to wait for a charge and boot it up before getting to AA. For me, I already have wired Android Auto, so the need for wireless was to make things more efficient.

Awesome! I got the alpha version working between a pixel 2 xl (master) and a rooted htc one m8 (slave). The beta does not work on the htc. On app launch, when it requests permission to access location, the prompt appears again immediately after pressing allow. I think it has to do with "htc location services" which are probably different than "Google location services"
